Getting to know Thailand

Day 1 - Sunday, November 18, 2012, Bangkok – Arrival (no meals).

  • Arrive Bangkok by . . .
  • Transfer from Bangkok international airport to Royal Benja Hotel by private air-conditioned minibus or small bus with English speaking guide and all baggage handling.

Day 2 - Monday, November 19,  2012, Bangkok (B/L). Breakfast at hotel.

  • 0730-1200: Thonburi Klong tour with Grand Palace and The Emerald Buddha. Thonburi is the western part of Bangkok, situated on the right side of the Chao Phya River. Its many canals had originally given Bangkok the name “Venice of the East.” Passing by boat along the canals gives you a first hand impression of the scenic life along Bangkok’s waterways.
  • Visit the Royal Barges and the Temple of Dawn. The Grand Palace is one of the most beautiful examples of an ancient Siamese court. It was formerly the residence of the Kings of Thailand. Here you will see palaces which were used for different occasions: the Funeral Palace, the Reception Palace, the Throne Hall, the Coronation Hall, the Royal Guest House, and the beautiful Emerald Buddha Temple.
  • Lunch to be included at local restaurant.
  • Visit Wat Po

Day 3 - Tuesday, November 20, 2012, Bangkok - Nakhon Pathom - Bangkok (B/L/). Breakfast at hotel.

  • Visit to Nakorn Pathom, site of the highest Chedi in Thailand called “Phra Pathom Chedi” which is the largest pagoda in Southeast Asia.
  • Lunch will be served at the picturesque Rose Garden country resort.
  • Afterwards you will attend the Thai village show, which gives you an introduction into Thai life.
  • You will witness ordination into monkshood, fingernail dance, Thai boxing, hilltribe dance, sword fighting, elephants at work and folk dancing.

 

Day 4 - Wednesday, November 21, 2012, Bangkok - Ayuthaya - Bangkok (B/L). Breakfast at hotel.

  • 0830-1700: Ayuthaya Tour. Among the “must see” attractions in Thailand is a visit to Ayuthaya, the former capital of Thailand situated 90 kms north of Bangkok. The principal sights are the gigantic bronze statues of Wat Mongkol Borpith, Wat Phra Srisanpetch and Wat Yai Chai Mongkol.
  • This tour also includes a boat trip to Bang-Pa-In, the former Royal Summer Residence, which represents a fine example of Thai architecture.
  • Lunch will be served during this tour.

Day 5 - Thursday, November 22, 2012, Bangkok – Chiang Mai – Mae Hong Son (B/D). Breakfast at hotel.

  • Transfer from hotel to Bangkok airport for flight to Chiang Mai and onto Mae Hong Son.
  •  Accommadations at the Imperial Tara Mae Hongson Hotel

Day 6 - Friday, November 23, 2012, Mae Hong Son (B/LD). Breakfast at hotel.

  • 0900-1700: Full day to visit Hilltribe Village of the Longnecked Women with elephant riding and bamboo rafting.
  • Lunch to be included at local restaurant.

Day 7 - Saturday, November 24, 2012, Mae Hong Son - Chiang Mai (B/D). Breakfast at hotel.

  • Visit fresh morning market and then proceed to airport for flight to Chiang Mai
  • Transfer from Chiang Mai airport to Chiang Mai Plaza Hotel.
  • PM: Visit Doi Suthep
  • Dinner with Thai dancing hosted by H2T3 Tour

Day 8 - Sunday, November 25, 2012, Chiang Mai (B/L). Breakfast at hotel.

  • Visit morning market

  • Elephant camp

  • Lunch at local restaurant

  • Orchid Farm

  • Visit Hill Tribe village

  • Visit Night Bazaar on your own

Day 9, Monday, November 26, 2012, Chiang Mai (B/L/). Breakfast at hotel.

  • Full day cooking class includes lunch

  • Visit Night Bazaar on your own

Day 10, Tuesday, November 27, 2012, Chiang Mai (B/L). Breakfast at hotel.

  • Full day cooking class includes lunch
  • Visit Night Bazaar on your own

Day 11 - Wednesday, November 28, 2012, Chaing Mai  (B/l). Breakfast at hotel.

  • Full day cooking class includes lunch
  • Loy Krathong celebration with guide
  • Visit Night Bazaar on your own

Day 12 - Thursday, November 29, 2012, Chiang Mai (B/L). Breakfast at hotel.

  • Chiang Mai city tour

  •   Lunch to be included at local restaurant

  • Handicraft villages

Day 13 - Friday, November 30, 2012, Chiang Mai - Bangkok (B). Breakfast at hotel.

  • Transfer airport for flight to Bangkok
  • Transfer from Suvanbumi Airport to hotel
  • In afternoon visit Jim Thompson's House

Day 14 - Saturday, December 1, 2012, Bangkok – Departure (B). Breakfast at hotel.

  • Pick up at Hotel.
  • Transfer to Bangkok International airport for flight home.
